Lula Restaurant Distillery

Coming Soon!

Hi, there.  Welcome to the first blog posting of Lula Restaurant-Distillery! No words come close to explaining how excited we are to reach this point in our dream of Lula becoming a reality! It has taken a while to get here. Man, has it taken a while to get here and we look forward to sharing all the details with you on this journey and as we begin construction, perfect our menu and cocktails, and open our doors for business.

Frankly, we’ve wrestled with the best time and way to introduce ourselves to you. We finally agreed that riding the coattails of the most wonderful time of year would suit us just fine.  Hopefully Mardi Gras won’t mind. So, cue the Hawkettes for a little background music of Mardi Gras Mambo and open the curtains.  Here’s a little introduction…

Lula Restaurant Distillery will be the first of its kind in the state of Louisiana. We’ll distill vodka, rum and gin from Louisiana sugarcane adjacent to our full-service restaurant. You’ll be able to eat in the shadows of our German made copper still. We’ll be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and we’ll have a full bar along with a special events space, outdoor patio and off-street parking. Parking! Did we mention parking?

The future home of Lula Restaurant Distillery [1530 St. Charles Avenue] is empty. The building has had several lives including an automotive repair shop and most recently a furniture store [more on that in a later posting]. While we are preparing to begin construction, we’ve spent some time there watching some of the uptown parades with our family and friends. As the parade music resounded from the streets and the beads slapped the windows last night, we can say now more than ever this is where Lula was meant to be. We feel honored to have the opportunity to bring our concept to this beautifully historic space.

Mardi Gras sure is a tough act to follow; but, if we can bring a smidgeon of the same concoction of food, music and a joy for life to the folks that dine and drink with us then we’ll consider our job well done. We will work hard at it every day and we look forward to earning our place in the New Orleans restaurant scene.

Please check out our website which will give you a more complete introduction of our concept and check back often as we’ll blog regularly throughout construction, opening and beyond! We welcome feedback and comments so please don’t hesitate to start a conversation. We look forward to enjoying a cocktail with you soon!
